inspire others to embrace hope and perseverance against all odds
— Hasan Khalil

In the absence of written records, music and art have become our cultural storytellers, guiding us through our heritage and preserving it for future generations. My music reflects the resilience and wisdom of future generations. As a cultural musician shaped by my upbringing in a refugee camp, I convey stories of survival, genocide, war, and cultural celebrations, alongside cultural dances and traditions. Using instruments, sampled music sounds, and voice, I amplify the voices of refugees and address issues of injustice, mental health, and cultural preservation. Through my compositions, I aim to spark empathy and dialogue, weaving together narratives that speak to the resilience of the human spirit.

In addition to performing for the Yazidi cultural heritage and events, my music has raised awareness throughout the US, Canada, and the Middle East, serving as a voice for hope. My recent work includes tours at public schools and theaters, such as the Lied Center for Performing Arts and the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival. The ongoing documentary "Cross Fade in Cultures" highlights my musical journey from refugee camps to the present. In 2024, my second studio album "The Voices" will be released. On April 17th, 2024, I will perform at the Yazidi Annual Sar Sal New Year's Celebration, attended by over three thousand people

"Because only in our relentless pursuit, we retain our dignity and write our own story”
